SOG SEAL Pup vs. Camillus Pilot Survival Knife / Ontario 499 ASEK review & demonstration

Which knife is better, the SOG SEAL Pup or the Camillus Pilot Survival Knife? They’re similar in size but differ greatly in weight and blade material. The Camillus is much heavier due to the awesome butt cap on the handle, and the SOG’s serrations are far superior to the saw teeth on the ASEK. The Camillus blade is 4-7/8″ long and is made of 1095 tool steel, which is easy to sharpen. The saw teeth on the spine work well on wire and nails, but fall short on cutting metal and plastic sheeting …

Benchmade Nim Cub II knife: 3.5 Ounce Combat Knife

The little Benchmade Nimravus Cub II (LIte) is impressive. The entire loadout weight on this diminutive blade is just 5.4 oz. The blade itself is only 3.5 ounces! Nevertheless the BM Nim Cub II gives us a perfectly sized 3.5 inch 154CM stainless blade that holds much utility and maybe a little tactical capability as well. The sharp jimping, deep fingerguard, and perfect balance help to solidly lock the Nim Cub in hand. The sheath is a homerun: super light, nylon so as not to absorb water …

Urban Survival SOG SEAL Pup Knife Review & Demonstration

This is a review and demonstration on the SOG SEAL Pup knife. I’ve modified the sheath to make it into an urban survival knife by adding a fire steel rod, a sharpener, paracord, reflective and duct tape, and a fishing line and hook. This knife is light, balanced, and tough. The blade is made of AUS 6 S/S, which makes it hard to get a good edge in the field. That said, it maintains an edge better than my carbon blade knives. I’d recommend this knife to anyone looking for a decent camping …

SOG Tech Bowie: Modern Day Operative

If you happen across an original 1960s era SOG Bowie knife and want to buy it, expect to fork over at least 00 plus. That’s because that combat knife is limited in number and had such a interesting life in combat with the Studies and Observation Group (SOG) in Vietnam. The SOG Knife Company’s success and expansion came out of their quality re-creation and marketing of this blade. This SOG Tech Bowie is a modern and worthy successor to the original. With AUS8 steel, beautiful and effective …
