I’m thinking of buying this knife, together with SOg flash 2 and the thrident. Is this a good knife? plz reply, thx

Excellent knife. The ergonomics of the SOG X-Ray are better than the SOG Trident IMO. I prefer the X-Ray over the ones you listed. I usually carry the SOG Spec-Elite and other plain blade knives more often then my half-serrated knives.

Cool. You’ll love the feel and especially the arc-lock on the x-ray. Your knife will probably have the new engraving on the blade(SOG logo blade/bullet).

SOG is also introducing a new knife Visionary I/II coming in 2008. It looks like the blade is from an elite and handle from a xray. Best of both as I like the plainblade Spec elite and the handle from the Xray.

Looks cool. You’ll miss those fingers after playing around with a knife like that. Have fun.

is this knife as fast as a flash II? or does it require a little more effort to get the blade out?
By nitwitbeer, January 4, 2008 @ 10:12 pm
I prefer the Xray’s locking system (Arc-Lock) than the S.A.T that the Flash uses. The Xray doesn’t use assisted technology but can very well open a blade just as quick as my SOG S.A.T’s like the Flash / Trident / Twitch I and II. But I’m able to open and close the SOG Xray/Spec-Elite much faster. They operate very similar to Benchmades Axis-Lock knives. If you prefer the Assisted openers from SOG I would choose the Trident.

arc-lock or axis?
By derrickd803, February 5, 2008 @ 12:40 pm
arc-lock, benchmade uses the axis which is very similar. i prefer the arc.

derrickd803: Your’re right. What you think about Ultra-Lock Cold Steel’s? Very similar too.
By derrickd803, May 11, 2008 @ 1:22 pm
i havent used that one yet, ill have to check it out
By knife1975, May 11, 2008 @ 3:13 pm
OK. Thanks. In my CS Recon-1 tanto after 2 years Ultra-Lock works pretty well. None problems. None BP. None broken springs… But IMO Arc-Lock in SOG X-ray Vision works more smooth.
By thc3636, May 29, 2008 @ 11:40 am
these locking systems are hands down the strongest and smoothest i have ever used. I recommend getting a sog arc lock or bm axis lock. You also cannot go wrong with the cold steel ultra lock but i prefer the other two.
