Sog Trident Tanto Digi-camo
This is the SOG Specialty Knives Trident Tanto Digi-camo folding knife. IT features the new Arc-Actuator witch is ideal for fast openening. What the Arc-Actuator does is, after a small flick of the blade, a spring kicks in and opens the blade the rest of the way. To close the blade you need to push the actuator button down and fold the blade closed. The Trident Tanto, slightly different than the Trident, also features a saftey. While the safety is engaged, the knife will not open. This can be useful while hiking to stop your blade from opening while in a puch or backpack. It can also be used as a child safety lock. Another feature is a lanyard hole and the Groove. The Groove is a slit in the knife handle that shows a small peice of the blade to allow the cutting of smaller things I .E. fishing line, without opening the blade. Likeability- 9.8 out of 10. (Excellent blade) It also has a Cryogenic Heat Treatment to increase the strength of the blade. Read below for more details (this was taken straight form the SOG website ( not my own writing) SOG’s unique cryogenic heat treatment process increases the toughness and wear resistance of our blades. Taking the knife slowly down in temperature to less than -300°F and then back to room temperature. This stress relieves the material on an atomic level and increases overall strength as well as edge retention. Knife edges stay sharp longer with significantly less micro-fracturing and edge-chipping. Its this dedication to making …

The resistance you feel when closing the blade is part of the opening mechanism. You are effectively loading the spring when you close it so it can snap open.

Yeah, like Raptorj59 said, it does that with all low/medium priced open assisted blades (i have an open assist kershaw knife and it has the same resistance at the same point of rotation when you close it). i don’t know if the really expensive ones have that kind of resistance as ours do, but i’ll bet it’s probably comperable.

um they probaly left that there so when you stab something it doesnt calapse on your hand.
By HCDDWarhero, January 1, 2010 @ 10:45 am
They left what where?
By mitsvenzerostudios, January 1, 2010 @ 4:15 pm
the problem with it getn harder and harder when you try closing the blade into the handle
By HCDDWarhero, January 1, 2010 @ 4:39 pm
I found out what that is. It is to charge the spring. I put it in annotations. This knife locks back so it wouldnt collapse on your fingers.

ya i hate when it cuts your nuckles when its a crapy knife
By HCDDWarhero, January 1, 2010 @ 6:22 pm
That’s never happened to me. I know that, naturally, some folding knife designs such as the Victorinox SwissArmy Knife, do not lock back.

To anyone watching this, the color of the digi camo is bitchin. The white balance on this video is all wrong so don’t judge it by this.

TiNi stands for titanium nitride. and thats the coating on the blade that gives it durability and water resistance
By HCDDWarhero, February 10, 2010 @ 10:00 am
@n0wii604m3 I know that now.
By darklight0x, February 10, 2010 @ 8:36 pm
i wish the tanto blades had the ruff part at the end of the blade for like…ruff situation
By HCDDWarhero, February 10, 2010 @ 8:42 pm
@darklight0x What do you mean? Like serrations?
By Spelunker0211, February 26, 2010 @ 3:42 am
This knife seems durable enough for me to keep on me at all times and being able to use it at will sort of like a multitool on the go, a plus being it matches my uniform.

Very nice review. I decided to go with the SOG Trident Desert Camo. They both are similar in my opinion. Also, both are great knives. Great job and keep up the great work!

Serrations are better than plain edge

I would say the only downside is that is so wide, the handle is like 3x the thickness of the blade…

any one know if there’s something exactly like this except non auto?
By magnetmixer, April 22, 2010 @ 8:13 am
your WEAK, stop complaining about a liiiitle bit of spring tension. its nothing and its totally worth the assisted opening,, thats the easiest knife to open.
