SOG folding knives- Flash II and Aegis
These knives are definitely good for the money, but don’t expect Bechmade’ s quality. For an EDC knife, Flash is better than Aegis. Flash: -perfect pocket clip, the knife rides very low in the pocket; -the knife is strong, has no play, attention to detail is pretty good Aegis: -feels good in the hand, the size and shape are good -has some annoying vertical play -the blade is offset when closed -pocket clip is ok, a little to close to the handle Sorry there’s no sound, youtube took down the …

lost of cheaper knives are good, but it’s about passion, you allways want something new, better..:)

5/5
they look nice!
out of all the folding knives you have which one do think is the most rugged tough?
By holdenccc, January 12, 2009 @ 2:41 am
benchmade 710 – thick liners and axis
By holdenccc, January 12, 2009 @ 2:47 am
i put Aegis on the table then push on the back of the blade with moderate force; the tip moves about 5 mm, so it’s pretty bad play.
the knife doesn’t seem as strong as Flash, but it can be used with pleasure

thanks for the reply and, wow didn’t expect that!
By holdenccc, January 12, 2009 @ 12:02 pm
you expected chinook?
i had some problems with it, borken screws, and Spyderco will send me a few srews and a back spacer for it, they are nice people.
By wmpyr, January 12, 2009 @ 12:29 pm
lol, yeah I thought Chinook would be strong like a Great White Shark and last a million years, as for benchmade didn’t think that the axis lock was so strong…

what do you think of the arc lock?
By holdenccc, January 17, 2009 @ 5:49 pm
not the best locking mechanism for sure
By holdenccc, January 17, 2009 @ 5:49 pm
thanks bro!

all i had to do is adjust the pivot screw and it had no blade play side to side but the up and down is minimal and its hard to notice my aegis has the same amount of up and down blade play as my 550 griptilian from benchmade which is next to none the aegis is lite weight and agile
i personally believe that it is a improvement of the flash series
and the reason why mine might be better quality is beculse i have the digital tini aegis PLEASE CHECK OUT MY CHANNEL!!!!! i have alot of reviews

I think the vertical play on your aegis might be an isolated insident, if you send it in, I’m sure they’ll replace it.

i’ve sold it allready, i didn’t like it much.
i like flash II, i want one in aluminium
By martinaee, March 12, 2009 @ 5:34 pm
Flash 2 is the way to go. It was my first knife and still the best in terms of “everything/always” I have the plain zytel version and it’s super light and I don’t mind trashing on it and it just performs. I might consider getting the aluminum handle version eventually, but it’s not plain edge which sucks.

my flash has a bit of vertical blade play but only because i was using it for heavy cutting.

Excellent photography that really brings out the beauty, style and detail of the knives. I’m leaning toward the Aegis for a forthcoming purchase. Thanks for the specifics in the description to the right — info is good to know.

thanks a lot, it was my pleasure
By martinaee, May 11, 2009 @ 11:52 pm
I don’t think that SOGs have worse quality except the steel could be better and a lot of the knives don’t use liners.
