SOG FLASH 1: Outstanding Reference EDC
In the field of daily carry knives, the SOG FLASH 1 is a fast, lightweight, well-built, and securely carried companion. I have many of these knives and have used them extensively for both duty and personal use. As my VIDEO shows, the FLASH 1′s size is perfect as is the deep carry clip. Add its good quality AUS8 steel and most importantly it’s feathery 1.2 oz weight (not 1.4 oz ike I said in video) and you have the near-perfect daily carry knife. For a knife you’ll have on your person at ALL …

I received my Flash I on 9/4/090. It is a good knife and was very sharp out of the box. I wear a large glove and the knife is a bit small. There is just not a whole lot to grab a hold of to open the knife one-handed. But this is a minor issue. Practice and it becomes easier. Those with smaller hands will probably love this knife. The piston lock release does rattle quite a bit but this is not a tactical knife so it’s no big deal. At least not to me. Overall, great knife.

I just bought the SOG flash 1 because of this review and a friend’s recommendation and let me tell you it came razor sharp, and is an excellent small sized, fast deploying, light weight edc knife.

I, too, just bought one of these based on this review. I’m not sure yet if it will spend more time with my other knives or in my pocket, but it’s been in my pocket since I got it so far. Great little knife. Thanks for the review!

I had a s.o.g. flash 1 and loved it but the clip was a pain in the butt. The tip of the clip is raised off of the handle in such a way that it just acted as a hook on anything that passed by it. It was caught on one thing or another for a couple of months until one day it got loose and it was gone forever.

Great review, I love my Flash I. Clip is a problem: carried this for the past 4 months, clip bent and I dropped it once (found by someone else) and once dropped when I noticed it. Stopped using the clip (may just remove it). In that time it had built up enough lint from my pockets to prevent the blade lock from working properly (ouch – btw), so I took it apart to clean. Found that it was simple to remove the safety, better than the super glue trick if you don’t mind taking it apart.

Also requires three tools to take apart: a torx 6 and two tiny hex wrenches (sorry found the hex wrench in my tools luckily, but they were not marked with size – but they are TINY) too bad it wasn’t just a torx, or hex to take apart

Hey, thanks for the demo vid. I’ve been carrying a mini-autoclip for years, but decided to techno-update, and received my Flash 1 in the mail yesterday. I wasn’t overly impressed until you showed me the proper opening technique. I’m such a dork. Great knife, nice and light. Thanks!

By 1911man6910, December 4, 2009 @ 4:59 pm
I am sixteen and carry many knives similar to the flash two such as the benchmade rift and griptilian and on occasion the sog vulcan

Niceeeee BRooooooo, I just got a buck vantage, its sweettttttttttttt i totally recommend it, i also recommend the kershaw OD-1 and the large buck bantam, the large buck bantam is a work horse, it will cut anything and everything you throw at it

By MegaMatt333, December 6, 2009 @ 7:32 pm
i dont understand why he likes it, its got a fair bit of blade play, the clip tends to bend after a week or two, the steel isnt that good and its damn expensive for a small edc
