Benchmade Nimravus: Sexy But Imperfect
At only 8.0 oz this BenchMade Nimravus is a pretty lightweight fixed blade tactical knife. Aptly suited for camping and utility tasks it can also serve for defensive purposes. Good steel, great sheath, and a so-so handle, the Nimravus is a good design that will serve nicely in the role of small fixed blade knife. Nutnfancy Likeability Scale: 6 out of 10

If you had to choose would you get a Rat4 or a Nimravus? Looking for a smaller fixed blade for when I go hunting, camping, fishing, etc.

The Benchmade Nimravus is more of a weapon. I could never see someone useing this as a survival knife. It just wont put up with it. Im going to get a Kabar and this and carry both remember guys. 2 is 1 and 1 is none

ever plan on selling that?

You are absolutely right. I own one of these in a MOLLE sheath and clearly see it as a weapon.
The blade is way too thin to call it a survival knife.
The Kabar is obviously a much better choice for that for so many reasons. I went for a thick bladed Buck. Buck kinda reminds me of my young days

You talk to much and the videos are to long . I have a first run Nimravus and a pre-production run mini Nimravus . Love them very much but dont use them much . Dont want to get them in that used condition . MY collection is a working collection . No fun if you dont use them .

I love this guy’s videos. They are just plain’ fun to sit and watch; I appreciate the length and his overviews.

me to! if i am going to drop some hard cash on a knife i want to learn as much as i can to make a good or at least better decision.

It is a sexy as fudge knife, but for a last ditch defense knife I would go with a good folder/ assisted opener because I am way way way more likely to have one on me.

Sir that makes NO sense at all. Like, none! You just contradicted yourself there quite clearly.

the lock on the sheath makes it great for being handle down (upside down) on the side of the thigh. in this position you can reach down grap the knife and bring it up very fast and sharp which makes in doubly useful for a quick defence, again that makes the sheath even more useful as it it easy to sow, strap on etc to your leg or pants, although a longer blade by about a cm or 2 would make it perfect, but great knife all the same.

There is a version of the Nimravus with the checkered handle….just so you guys know. The option is out there.
By DaOneAndOnly3, July 13, 2009 @ 8:00 pm
It’s a shame they don’t use them anymore.

OMFG it takes you 2 minutes and 30 seconds to pull it out!! do you think people want to look at a sheath for 2 and a half minutes or the knife it self?

Calm down, its a very informative and detailed review, as he always does and many people (including myself) appreciate the many hours he puts into getting us all the best information…and as you can see by his 30,000+ subscribers, people want the thorough, lengthy review…
Just sit back, relax and enjoy the review that he works hard to do so you do not have to do to get the necessary information for an informed buy…

I think that Gerber attempted to duplicate the blade design, I think that it’s called the Profile or something.
By UJS8X, November 15, 2009 @ 7:30 pm
I think that would be better with a 6.5 or 7 inch blade.
