Benchmade LFK knife: Major League Size

If you’re needing the reach and the maybe the reach of a large bladed defensive knife, then the interesting BM LFK could fill the bill: fast deploying, razor sharp, good steel in a “new” design that merits consideration. The only real miss is the pivot-mounted carry clip but at a price point it’s good design and value. ADD to video: weight is 6.8 ounces, heavier than a regular tac folder but that this price of this huge blade. Nutnfancy Likability Scale: 8 out of 10

I wont reject it in full just the kydex and they should use the axis lock.

I tried my LFK for Extremely light batoning, and the lock failed very easily. Also the thumb studs broke and fell out of the blade. I like it and it is still a cool knife but I wouldn’t give it heavy use.

People need to realize that folding knives are not for batoning or any other heavy use, no matter how big the knife is. When I am cutting fire wood, clearing brush, doing camp chores, or cleaning game, I am usually in a situation where I would not need to conceal my edged implements, thus, would not need a folding knife. There just isn’t really any logic in a folding knife being your primary outdoors knife. They are good for package opening and self-defence when about town, and little else.

But even around town, I carry the biggest knife I can get away with. This one looks pretty good.

i believe that you may have been sold an illeagal (to make, not buy) chinese copy that use cheaper materials and have less effort put in to it.
My LFK has a very reliable, sturdy lock on it and VERY tight (almost too tight for my liking) thumb locks.

Thanks for an informative video. I bought an LFK last year and have found it to be an excellent “city knife” for opening boxes, cutting cord and slicing fruit for my grand kids. Unfortunately, the blade provides such a long lever arm that strenuous use – such as batoning – is out of the question. Howver, did I mention it provides a wonderful sense of security to have such an enormous blade for self defense (if needed)? BTW, very professional presentation compared your earlier videos.

also i would like to say that people need to realize that knives in general are not for battoning or heavy brush work… get a freaking hatchet or machete… less expensive than knives, but is actually designed to do the work that people try to do with knives. Knives are for cutting and stabbing. If you want to chop wood and build shelter in the bush, get a tool designed for that, such as a machete, hatchet, kukri…ect.

    I could not agree more.

  • By hxcmthrfcka, December 23, 2009 @ 4:51 am

lol they didnt give an option for tip up because a third of the knife would be sticking out of your pocket with that flip out blade guard design.. duh nutnfancy ;] (not being an ass!)

its cool but the grey on the handle reminds me of a kitchen knife or like a utility knife, which to me makes it unappealing.

Just found out about this knife today after work. Man, I LOVE large folding knives. No CCW licenses here in my city so no pistol carry and also no concealed fixed blade carry. These are right up my alley. Already have a Cold Steel Voyager Tanto XL and Rajah II and was thinking to add a Voyager X2 but wasn’t crazy about that design. May get this instead, thx.

huh. dunno how they would mount that clip on the other end unless you want that extended blade sticking out.

  • By DemonHide, January 17, 2010 @ 12:21 am

I think Frost Cutlery had/has a 15″ blade on a folder. Of course, it’s only for looks and collectible ownership, I imagine, since the handle was equally long.

Love the knife. 5/5. A mercharness by CRKT will do the job of putting it under your arm nicely. However they work better on smaller knives.

Coolest knife I have seen in a while.

    Thanks Nutn’! =)

    5/5
