Benchmade H&K Ascender knives: High Speed Value

It’s no picnic finding high quality blades that impress me for around . Yes the variety and quality of all blades has expanded exponentially in the last few years. But I still don’t like making compromises on the big things: steel, deployment speed, lockup, ergonomics, and looks. Few make the cut at this restrictive price point. I also, just like you, I have my preferences. But here’s two that make the list: the Benchmade H&K (BM) Ascender Mdl 14352BT and its smaller brother the H&K Mini …

If you dont like something about his videos dont watch them. Instead of rallying other pricks together for a giant tosser fest.

Imo Id rathar pack a Rat RC3 and deal with 3 extra inches of space being taken up, and have a fixed blade to worry about those ‘tougher’ situations where I might hit wall or brick/what have you.

    Quite right.

I’m biased and buy American knives on general principle, but still, I have seen others’ “made in China” knives. They’re actually… not bad.

At any rate, it’s smart of you to point out how many American jobs play into Chinese products. In fact, if they didn’t say “Made in China” I’d get them.

Reality check, Mr Fancy – you state “quality controls are outstanding”, yet “out of the box, there is no edge, it blows”?!? How is a brand new knife that comes with a defective edge, could fall open and cut you badly, and its “chinese steel is unknown” – outstanding??

Printing H&K on that blade just adds icing to a turd. “ColdSteelRecon1″ is $20. more, not a hundred, just $20! NutnFancy, I love ya, but cheap steels do not deserve customers – Take pride in tools to keep for a lifetime.

First of all no edge doesn’t mean there is no quality control. If they don’t put an edge they just don’t put an edge (obviously a cheaper knife). There’s a difference between out of box features and quality control.

Second, the cold steel recon DOES retail at 100 but you can find them sold at 60. When Nutnfancy talks about retail prices he’s is talking MSRP. If you’ve watched a lot of his previous vids, you would understand that.

Dude, NutnFancy quotes REAL prices from yourcornerstore more often than not. Besides, my point was why would you buy an H&K (in name only) junk china knife when you can get the superior ColdSteelRecon knife for $20 more?
Q-C is a process to ensure junk does not go out the door to the consumer. The H&K has a dull edge. So for your $45 bucks, you get a knife that failed Q-C, or the plant has no Q-C at all – so they suck. Ask yourself, if Gillette sold you a dull razor, would you say “OK, cool”??

Just got one today “first production run 430 out of 500″, haven’t got any problem with the blade, nice and sharp :)

ah also if you didn’t know, the HK logo on the other side pops off so you can attach the clip for left-handed user, it should have come with another HK logo for the other side..

Nice and open for easy cleaning of the mud, blood and guts. Awesome quote! haha yes this makes knives much more efficient and easier. Important to have a knife that is easy to clean the left overs of your victims.

  • By Iwiehavo, November 10, 2009 @ 8:42 pm

Sweet dude, I picked one up about 3 months ago, 119 out of 500 hehe. Yours came sharp out of the box, because mine came incredibly dull?

  • By ForbinColossus, November 12, 2009 @ 11:37 pm

You write like a child. Try critical thinking. As a long time ‘Nutn’ fan, I learned to use what’s called judgment and experience. If you want to play sycophant, you are guilty of exactly what Nutn warns about in his earlier videos: “brand myopia”.

    Q-C?

  • By ColdSteelcollecter, November 21, 2009 @ 6:15 pm

i sometimes like the back spacer. i know for whittling its nice to not get so much pressure on your hand. but just like point thickness or blade steel it depends on specifically what you’re doing

  • By Hitari0, November 22, 2009 @ 9:01 am

How is this vs the Spyderco Tenacious?

  • By techiscool1, November 22, 2009 @ 8:07 pm
