Nice Piece. I have one myself and carry it on a regular basis. Keep up the good work on the reviews.

My dad has this knife with the Elishewitz signature on it from the earlier models. Can’t wait till he hands it down, doubt he ever will though. Amazing knife.

Yeah I feel your pain…missing out on interesting limited edition knives is the story of my life…

  • By marcuswong23, March 23, 2008 @ 2:03 am

The thing is this is NOT a limited edition knife. it was very much a production knife. but was discontinued the moment i found it and wanted to buy it

I have found that even production knives are not guaranteed to stay in production though so I guess I meant not “limited” but just any model…it seems like a large percentage of new designs they bring out end up only staying in production for a limited time, I guess based on sales volume, which in the case of a semi custom folder like this is pretty stupid…

Anyway hopefully it will return in the future as one of BM’s Gold series…

  • By marcuswong23, March 23, 2008 @ 5:56 am

It did come by but the ones in the gold series are rarely good i saw a couple; full CF or they modify the blade shape. its silly
BM has been very notorious of discontinuing their best models such as i do believe the old coated 710? not sure on model number

I had this knife long ago back when i first started collecting, it was rock solid and damn good looking.

I lost this knife on the golf course this week. It was the real Elishewitz. I got it on fathers Day 5 years ago. I’ve lost it before and its turned up but this time I think it is gone. I’m very sad. Thats why I’m online looking for a new one.

    Dumbass.

  • By jsdearborn, December 11, 2008 @ 2:50 pm

It’s OK I found it in my Lexus in the seat about a month after I posted this…yes i am a dumbass…

  • By altonmanbball22, December 11, 2008 @ 5:46 pm

oh lol naw your not a dumbass. haha but if i had a knife worth that much i’d never let it leave my site!

I got one of these in a first run. It had really brittle rose wood. The regular production has more resin in the wood and the blade is wider so the thumbstud is easier to access. I liked this type of knife for Elishewitz. I wish he would make more.

God I miss that one. Lost it a few years back during a random police-search while minding my own business, driving in town. They just pulled me over and searched me. I was this close to being held in custody.

That’s The Netherlands for you, folks. Knives are scary and dangerous! Whoo-hoo! Fuckers. I’m still trying to buy one back but they’re really rare nowadays.

Good review. You have a lot of interesting info on the background of this knife. May I suggest that you turn off that background noise. It detracts from your presentation. Thanks for your review.

I absolutely love the 690. I have seven of them I think. Two original Elishewitz signed, and a really sweet Limited edition Maple Burl handled 690 (008/500). Also the limited edition 690SBT. It has the black blade and the serrated butt. For actual use, I like the straight blade better.

  • By rustinpieces, October 24, 2009 @ 7:42 am

Yes…. I did it. I got a 690 – back, if you look up my post three months earlier. Got it at a great price, NM, no box. Still had the factory edge, a real safe-queen from the looks of it.

O yes, ditch that crappy rap in the background, please… Otherwise, thanks for the effort on the review.
