Benchmade Dejavoo: Weak liner lock?
The titanium liner lock engagement seems weak on the examples of Benchmade Dejavoo 740s that I’ve examined. Hey Benchmade… fix this!

Hey nutnfancy,
Thanks for the awesome reviews.
While handling a benchmade nitrous stryker in a store, I had the same issue with the liner lock. It did not seem to be very strong, and the amount of pressure it took to disengage the lock was really very minimal. Sadly minimal when compared to a Vex that I own.
Keep up the good work.

The main problem with Dejavoo liner lock is not the force needed to disengage it but the design of a handle. I can easily move the lock with my index finger while handling the knife which is impossible on my Spyderco Military (even if I disengage the lock on it and leave it loose on the tang).

I got the same thoughts as UrbanEDC…The liner lock on my Vex is not only thicker looking than this but also stronger looking. And I can say from owning it that the liner lock on the Vex is fairly strong.

Really sad they decided to make the Deja vu series liner-lock instead of axis lock.

oh my fucking god!! A KNIFE MANUFACTURER SUCH AS BENCHMADE WOULD NOT RELEASE A KNIFE TO THE PUBLIC KNOWING THE LINER LOCK IS NOT STRONG!!! DONT PEOPLE GET IT?????

On my 745 mini-dejavoo, I was able to wedge a small piece (3/16″X3/16″) of business card between the liner lock and scale, and this has increased the locking tension to an acceptable level. It also increased the tension on the detent, keeping the blade more securely closed. With a dark colored business card, it is almost un-noticable. FWIW.

The liner is weak and while cutting a plastic water bottle it closed and cost me 5 stitches. Be careful if you try cutting things with a tight grip.

same on an 890 Torrent that I subsequently returned to the place I got it. really flimsy liner lock and it was a deal breaker for me.
