Benchmade 530
After much debate I decided to give in and buy the Benchmade 530. I was extremely surprised when I got it in the mail to find such a great knife inside that blue Benchmade box. The 530 never caught my eye I think because of its looks but after staring at it for a while it is quite a handsome knife. The design is simple but elegant and makes a great gentlemen’s folder but packs the punch of a full on tactical knife. The thinness of the knife is incredible. I carry it every day as and EDC and always forget that it is there. With 154cm blade steel the knife will stay sharp and hold an edge well. I am very impressed with this little knife from Benchmade and encourage all who want something different to check it out. Enjoy.

the red class doesnt come with the carrying case packaging. Im converting from cold steel and ordered one to replace the ti lite idea. you seem to have used benchmade a lot. i have had two, and i love the feel and look and quality of what i know the materials can be, but….. i hear benchmade knives break very easily. do you know of any abusive stories?
By edgedweapon88, October 24, 2009 @ 8:37 pm
Any knife can break under abuse. I have had several knives break on me and they have been from several different companies. I think one of the most important pieces of information a person can have is to know the boundaries of his/her tool. Certain knives have their strong points and weak points. If they are used for their intended purpose they will work flawlessly. My benchmades have been very reliable but there are always the flukes. Check out nutnfanceys video on the BM Nimravis.

Sorry for the rant and I hope my response helped.

What ever you do don’t drop it on concrete I work in a warehouse manufacturing grass seed blends my buddy asked to use it to cut some plastic off a pallet of grass seed he did not how to shut it dropped it on concrete the point of it broke right off now I’am missing about 1/4” of the blade. but now I carry a camillus cuda jr. with a tanto blade if he drops that the concrete will be the one breaking.
By edgedweapon88, October 31, 2009 @ 11:01 am
That sucks. Im sorry to hear about that. That is a definite draw back for having such a thin blade. It wont be as strong. I hope your Camillus works out better.

I am new to knifes and i was just wondering i wanna buy this only if i have to pull that little lever down and the blade pops out. Can someone help with this. no offense to the video im little confused because your using the thumb studs. I thought it was an automatic knife
By edgedweapon88, December 7, 2009 @ 5:13 am
The Benchmade 530 is not an automatic knife. It is manual and can be deployed by the thumb studs or the axis lock. The axis lock can be used to open and close the knife but in no way makes it an automatic knife.

So this is not an assisted opening blade?
By edgedweapon88, January 7, 2010 @ 5:01 am
No it is a manual opener.

I am pondering selling my Kershaw (Black Semi Serrated) Leek for one of these. You think it would be worth it? For Everyday Use.
By edgedweapon88, January 7, 2010 @ 5:28 pm
I would keep your leek if I were you. The 530 is a great little knife but you can beat on the leek much more than you would be able to with the 530.

Hello, I wanted to say, Benchmade got the memo on the Lum folder, the gimping is great.
By edgedweapon88, January 24, 2010 @ 11:09 am
