This is the SOG Specialty Knives Trident Tanto Digi-camo folding knife. IT features the new Arc-Actuator witch is ideal for fast openening. What the Arc-Actuator does is, after a small flick of the blade, a spring kicks in and opens the blade the rest of the way. To close the blade you need to push the actuator button down and fold the blade closed. The Trident Tanto, slightly different than the Trident, also features a saftey. While the safety is engaged, the knife will not open. This can be useful while hiking to stop your blade from opening while in a puch or backpack. It can also be used as a child safety lock. Another feature is a lanyard hole and the Groove. The Groove is a slit in the knife handle that shows a small peice of the blade to allow the cutting of smaller things I .E. fishing line, without opening the blade. Likeability- 9.8 out of 10. (Excellent blade) It also has a Cryogenic Heat Treatment to increase the strength of the blade. Read below for more details (this was taken straight form the SOG website ( not my own writing) SOG’s unique cryogenic heat treatment process increases the toughness and wear resistance of our blades. Taking the knife slowly down in temperature to less than -300°F and then back to room temperature. This stress relieves the material on an atomic level and increases overall strength as well as edge retention.
